How much should I insure my antiques for?
According to Miller's International Antiques Professional Handbook, you should insure your valuable antiques for the cost of replacing them with similar items, regardless of the original price paid. A professional antiques appraiser or auctioneer will provide a valuation service for a fee.

How can I tell the age of my tiger oak bureau?
Tiger oak is also called quartersawn oak. The wider the grain the older the wood. For most furniture made in the late 1800s, the wood was more than 100 years old at the time it was harvested. Most of these pieces date from the Victorian era through the Arts and Crafts movement.
